Panel #1 / Writing with scenography

Avignon

July 13th, 2018
↗Cloître Saint-Louis, Avignon

Over the years, scenography has become an art in its own right, open and plural. In the theater, it is a plastic work and writing material, it goes beyond the boundaries of the stage and inspires artists whose researches focus on space, volumes and performance. What are the manufacturing processes? What place does the scenographer have? What influences does this trend have on the profession?

Appointed by the Ministry of Culture to coordinate the presence of France at the Prague Quadrennial 2019, ARTCENA launches in Avignon with its partners and Philippe Quesne, artistic director chosen for the French pavilions, a reflection of one year on the profession of set designer.

Organized by ARTCENA, with the Directorate General of Artistic Creation (DGCA) of the Ministry of Culture, the French Institute, the French Institute of Prague, in partnership with the Union of Scenographers - UDS.

The panel takes place on July 13 at 14:30, in Avignon, Cloître Saint-Louis, ISTS.

With Alexandre de Dardel, set designer; Phia Ménard, juggler, performer and stage director; Philippe Quesne, set designer and stage director, director of Nanterre-Amandiers; Éric Soyer, lighting designer and set designer, and Virginie Yassef, artist.

Moderation: Gwénola David, Executive Director of ARTCENA
